Selections from the World’s First Gay and Lesbian Art Museum to Premiere at Friday’s Artwalk

The Kymara Gallery in partnership with The Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art presents “Two Loves — Sex, Art, and the Love that Dare not Speak its Name.” This exhibition is comprised of selections from the Museum’s permanent collection of important original paintings, sculpture, and photography ranging from the years 1650 to 2010.

On view will be rarely seen works by Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, as well as a selection of prints by Maine native Robert W. Richards.

The Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art is located in New York City. It is the first dedicated museum of LGBT art and is the premier resource for those interested in the rich legacy of the LGBT artistic community and its influence on the mainstream art world.

The Kymara Gallery is known for producing historic “Happenings,” and has been hosting art shows and events in Southern Maine and New York. An opening celebration is planned for July 27th from 7 to 10 PM. Portland’s VJ Foo will be providing music, and catering will be provided by Kymara Catering of Kennebunkport.

The Gallery is located in The North Dam Mill, 2 Main Street, Building 17, Suite 220, Biddeford, Maine. For more information, contact Kymara (207)286-7399.
